The Song Of The River
For every transgression I’m a forgiver
Come to me with every trouble and care
None of your sorrows can enter my river
Come to my bank and leave all of them there
There is the world that will try to control you
Here is the place where both peace and rest meet
Let my cool waters relieve and console you
Comb soft through your hair and caress your feet
Ease into my current and I will take you
You’ll be free of care when left in my keep
Never to disturb your slumber or wake you
Never to feel sorrow, never to weep
The world takes its toll on all of the senses
In harsh light of day there’s nowhere to hide
Wouldn’t you rather have no consequences
Surrender all cares and drift on my tide?
Come to a place where life’s troubles can’t reach you
I know a place they will never return
Come into the shoals so that I may teach you
Step into my waves so that you may learn
Why prolong the pain and the endless grieving?
Destined to chase for some transient goal
The common mans ways will have you believing
That wealth’s enough to bring peace to the soul
Escape this dream; come repose and lay down
You’re here at the shore to cleanse your regret
You're not here to swim, but to learn how to drown
Not to remember, you're here to forget
So give up all effort, relinquish control
You need do nothing but yield to my waves
Come experience delight; come bathe your soul
While sorrows dissolve in my liquid graves
Ready your lips as you enter my current
You’ll feel the caress from my endless kiss;
There’s only peace here, no other deterrent
And eternal silence, what’s better than this?
In the same way that heat escapes a fire
In the way fragrance escapes the bloom
Your soul shall escape unsated desire
When it castes its shell to my watery tomb
For every transgression I’m a forgiver
Come to me with every trouble and care
None of your sorrows can enter my river
Come to my bank and leave all of them there
